All that we experience is included in our consciousness. Or, we might say, we unfold what we enfold.
That doesn't necessarily imply that if our house is robbed we are the ones who are breaking the eighth commandment. But if we are experiencing dishonesty, we have probably accepted some form of the belief that dishonesty is real. This mistake—and it is a mistake, since only what God, good, creates is real—affects our experience. So when we run into dishonesty, or evil of any kind, we should take this as an opportunity to correct such an error.
Our Master, Christ Jesus, said, "The kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:21. The kingdom of God surely includes no evil element. We may conclude, then, that man's state is one of pure, harmonious consciousness, made up exclusively of elements of good. Neither an evil condition nor the evil thought that appears to produce it is actually part of real selfhood. Recognizing our God-given purity, and living that purity, we can free ourselves from both erroneous thought and whatever untoward effects may seem to accrue from it.
