Of note This Month

From the October 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

(Of special note to class-taught Christian Scientists)

In the By-Law entitled "Class Teaching," Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Manual of The Mother Church: "Members of The Mother Church who are authorized by its By-Laws to teach Christian Science, shall not solicit, or cause or permit others to solicit, pupils for their classes. No member of this Church shall advise against class instruction." Man., Art. XXVII, Sect. 5.

Encouraging others to take the step of class instruction without soliciting is not much different from sharing Christian Science without proselytizing. Both have to do with motive, and both demand an honest application of the Golden Rule.
