How is your life shining?

From the October 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sometimes people feel discouraged and wonder why they aren't seeing more signs of progress in their lives or even in their church. One may ask, "What more can I do, or what am I doing wrong?" But perhaps there are other questions we should be asking. Perhaps we should be examining our mental standpoint more closely.

Often there may be a need to quiet down; to entertain greater spiritual stillness. We may then ask, "How effective is the quality of my thinking—of what I am praying as well as of what I am doing? How is my life shining?" There's an important observation in this regard in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy: "Thought imbued with purity, Truth, and Love, instructed in the Science of metaphysical healing, is the most potent and desirable remedial agent on the earth." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 4.

We let our lives shine by realizing, accepting, and expressing the spirit of Christ, Truth, and by vigorously, persistently rejecting the lying suggestions of the anti-Christ in today's world. These suggestions represent the age-old resistance of materialism to Truth, the carnal mind's hatred of Truth.
