In 1948 I married an avid sportsman whose dream was someday to have a son to fish and hunt with him. Five years later a son was born to us, but within a day or two he was unable to retain his milk. He would finish his bottle and then expel the entire amount. He lost weight rapidly, and the doctors decided that an operation would be necessary if the condition persisted.
My husband and I were devastated! My husband's mother had a friend who was a Christian Scientist, and she suggested that we try Christian Science treatment before making any hasty decisions. Since the baby was not getting any medication, the work was taken up through prayer.
I was allowed to go home, but the doctors insisted that the baby remain in the hospital under observation. Within two days he was home, gaining weight rapidly and keeping down the milk.
