Rules for a renewed Christianity

From the August 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Road signs that say "Blasting area: turn off two-way radios" or "Wrong way: go back" might not seem very exciting, until we have a vivid experience of the reasons for paying attention to them!

Following the rules is occasionally thought to be boring and restrictive. But if we tend to feel that way in connection with Christian Science, it's an indication we are missing something utterly basic— the true dimensions of scientific Christianity.

Rules aid the practice of spiritual healing immeasurably. And healing is no mere option; it is the vital force of renewed Christianity. Becoming more or less dutiful church members would not be anywhere near enough. But catching the vision of scientific Christianity and seeing there are rules that can be followed with practical, healing effect, begin to bring church and religion alive.
