My heart overflows with gratitude for Christian Science and for the woman who lived Christian Science in her daily life so well that she impelled my mother to enquire of her about this Science. Eventually my mother enrolled me in the Christian Science Sunday School, which provided me with a wonderful basis from which to embark on life.
I have had so many healings I could write about—healings of physical and relationship difficulties, provision of home and financial supply, finding lost articles, protection, and guidance. The list goes on and on, and all the solutions have come about through prayer, sometimes in the most remarkable ways.
Some years ago a small growth developed on my body that worried me. Every time I thought of it, I would turn my thought to this statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds." I realised I could grow only in grace, which is explained in Christian Science versus Pantheism by Mrs. Eddy as "the effect of God understood." In Miscellaneous Writings Mrs. Eddy states, "A little more grace, a motive made pure, a few truths tenderly told, a heart softened, a character subdued, a life consecrated, would restore the right action of the mental mechanism, and make manifest the movement of body and soul in accord with God." I tried sincerely to live these truths and to put them into operation in my daily life.
