Testimonies of Healing

Understanding Life frees from grief

From the May 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently while I was reading the Bible Lesson, I particularly noticed the verse in which Christ Jesus says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). This brought to thought an experience I had some years ago. The beautiful spiritual truths that were revealed to me then completely changed my thinking, and my life.

After that time
of prayer I was
free from painful
grief.

It happened after reading a telegram that was delivered very early one morning. It stated that our son had been shot and killed while rescuing another soldier in Vietnam. It was a tremendous shock. I was alone, and I literally shouted, "God help me!" I called a Christian Science practitioner, who was also a close friend, and read her the telegram. She assured me she would come immediately.
