Testimonies of Healing

Sinus difficulty ends in a moment

From the July 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

SOMETIMES A HEALING stands out as a beacon that really assures us and confirms our trust in God as the only real power and healer. This happened to me shortly after leaving Sunday School. I was a schoolteacher and seemed to be constantly befogged by a sinus difficulty, which was often very painful. A Christian Science practitioner prayed with me for some time, but the condition did not yield, in spite of patience and persistence from both us.

Finally, she suggested that I make an appointment with a Christian Science teacher in London. I readily agreed, and set off the following week to see him. Upon my arrival, he welcomed me into his office and began to talk with me about the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible. No reference was made to sickness. For half an hour we dwelt on that first chapter of the Bible, discussing the wholeness and perfection of God's man, who was given complete dominion as God's image and likeness. We read, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion . . . over all the earth" (Gen. 1:26). Man, here, is a generic term and refers to all the sons and daughters of God. As God's image, we can reflect only health, goodness, and well-being. At the end of half an hour, this teacher told me to go on my way and rejoice. I did, and the problem was healed there and then, and has never recurred. I am always so grateful for the persistence and humility of the practitioner and for the incisive treatment of the teacher.

The problem was healed there and then, and has never recurred.
