CHRISTIAN SCIENCE TREATMENT

Where healing takes place

God is the sole originator and sustainer of all that He creates.

From the July 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A COUPLE OF SUMMERS AGO my treasured horse was taken ill. I was informed that he was not sweating as he should. It was a particularly hot summer, and this was considered by the caretaker to be serious, possibly even fatal, because horses are supposed to sweat. After a while, when the condition continued unchanged, I decided I needed to pray about it.

I decided I needed to pray about my treasured horse.

An important point Christian Science teaches about prayer is that a spiritually changed viewpoint within one's own consciousness brings healing not only to oneself but to others. That's because no matter how concrete difficulties appear, they are actually mental phenomena, material concepts or fears being presented to our thought to be accepted as real. They are not really "out there," independent of our own mentality. Because of this, these false concepts can be challenged and refuted within consciousness—with the truth of God and His creation.
