STRENGTH

The inexhaustible energy of Spirit

It wasn't more sleep I needed but restful, harmonious thinking.

From the July 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WHEN I NEED a more inspired sense of my God-given strength, I often think of this statement by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health: "Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy. Let us rejoice that we are subject to the divine 'powers that be.' Such is the true Science of being." Science and Health, p. 249.

I woke in the middle of the night, very alert.

As God's perfect and complete expression, we reflect in infinite measure the inexhaustible energy of Spirit. We can see this evidenced in our day-to-day living as we wake from the material dream that we are limited mortals subject to physical laws, that we live in a faulty body with a mind inside that gets stressed and worried, and that we have only limited energy—which depends on things like fitness, food, health, heredity, and age. We can wake from this dream to glimpse the truth of our present spiritual perfection.
