LOOKING FOR A DEEPER spiritual sense, I felt led to take Primary class instruction in Christian Science the summer between high school and college. During the class, certain things became essential to me: honesty, integrity, humble listening to God, and spiritual growth. It was obvious to me that there was great joy and satisfaction in helping others through prayer, and I wanted to be part of it.
Choosing to enter the public practice of healing was a natural step. There was no anxiety. I could feel God tenderly leading me, quietly unfolding this right idea, showing me the way ever so gently.
During college I set aside two hours each day to pray for myself, my practice, the world. Sometimes it was difficult, because the dorm was noisy and there was always someone around. So I'd climb into my car, drive to a quiet area of the campus, and spend the next two hours listening humbly to God and praying. These were God's hours. Moments of devoting thought and life to Him. It wasn't long before a few patients began to call, and healings followed.
