Visiting with ‘dearest friends’

From the November 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently, my computer broke down, which put me in a bit of a quandary, as then I did not have digital access to the Christian Science Bible Lesson or Christian Science articles I had stored there. But then I remembered the two hardback books, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, that had been given to me as a gift when I started to study Christian Science many years ago. As I opened them, I felt that I was indeed visiting my nearest and dearest friends.

These books represented 12 years of love, as during my periods of being either First or Second Reader at a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I had studied directly from them. It was a great comfort to return to them and to remember healings that had come, both for myself and for others, from pondering, cherishing, and applying the spiritual truths contained in their familiar pages.

As I opened the books, I felt that I was indeed visiting my nearest and dearest friends.
