Easter today

From the April 2022 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a child attending the Christian Science Sunday School, it wasn’t hard for me to figure out that the real meaning of Easter had nothing to do with bunnies or chocolates. It also wasn’t just an event that many in the world commemorated once a year at a certain date. Early on it dawned on me that the true meaning of Easter had everything to do with wiping away tears, sorrow, doubt, and fear. What a freeing revelation!

The wonder and glory witnessed by Jesus’ disciples after his resurrection are still glowing for us today. Daily, we are blessed by remembering the morning meal those disciples enjoyed with their Master on the shore of the Galilean Sea. This story shows that each one of us, too, is indeed capable of rising out of the world’s darkness; in other words, we are able to awake to the true view of life in the light shed by the life of Christ Jesus.

Each one of us is capable of rising out of the world’s darkness.
