A year or so ago, during the Easter school holidays, I received visitors at our family residence. The plan was for them to stay for two weeks. Though I’d been looking forward to seeing them, it seemed to me that our financial situation was too unstable to host visitors for an extended period. I was concerned that their stay with us would not be filled with moments of shared joy and happiness.
I turned to the Bible for inspiration. These questions from the Apostle Paul challenged me to think differently about the situation: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” (Romans 8:35).
We are inseparable from God, who knows no lack and inspires in us joy, love, gratitude, generosity, kindness.
