I’ve recently been considering an idea that provides deep inspiration about how we can heal through the means Christ Jesus did. It’s from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, who said: “Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously” (p. 392).
This says to me that we need to consider any conclusion a thought carries with it—including when a thought makes us feel uncomfortable—before deciding whether to “admit,” to accept, it as true.
Recently, I had a healing experience as a result of following the guidance in this passage. I was visiting some friends whose young cat was having a difficult time. It spent almost a whole day hiding under their couch and wouldn’t come out to eat. My friends were worried about it, and we were all praying.
