A few years ago, in the middle of a church meeting I was attending about ministering to those in prison, I suddenly felt quite ill and thought I might faint. When I felt able, I left the auditorium. A dear woman in the entrance hall noticed something was wrong and followed me into the restroom, where I was able to rest on the love seat.
The woman lovingly offered to stay nearby in case I needed her. I told her I knew this could be healed quickly. She agreed. I mentioned that it felt as if the room were spinning. She replied that God was the center and circumference of my being.
She was referring to a passage in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that states that God is “the centre and circumference of being” (pp. 203–204). It was a passage I had read many times, but as I considered it I realized my thought needed to be centered on God and not the physical symptoms.
