Having been a Christian Scientist all my life, I’ve had many opportunities to see how God’s word is applied to daily living and how the Christ heals. My parents were also Christian Scientists and over the years overcame many challenging situations. This provided a strong base for me as I grew and faced my own set of issues. However, it is one thing to see and support others’ healings, and another to work for one’s own healings.
I saw how essential it is to follow this instruction from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts” (p. 261).
My career was in education, and I started as a teacher and then moved up the professional ladder. Some years ago, I accepted a position as assistant superintendent in a large school district. In this position I supervised and oversaw all instructional programs and their directors, federal programs, special education, and principals of eight schools and their budgets. Throughout my years in this district, I prayed daily to be led to perform all duties with love, strength, and wisdom.
