It can be tempting to consider the Bible as merely a book of stories about ancient peoples; a book that is replete with allegories, conflicts, and famous characters from long ago.
But through Christian Science, discovered by Mary Baker Eddy—and explained in her work Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures—I have come to see the Bible in a spiritual light as the “chart of life” (Science and Health, p. 24), with a spiritual message that elevates morally and spiritually. Every day, reading Science and Health leads me to love the Bible even more, as a precious work that contains wonderful divine promises of good for all generations.
Christian Science, which explains God’s laws, reveals the intrinsic spiritual value of the Scriptures in communicating the true knowledge of God and His relation to man and the universe. The examples of God’s power contained in the Bible serve as a guide for all on the path of Truth. Each of us has the legitimate right, upheld by God, to discern this power and claim the Bible’s promises of hope and healing, which are uncontaminated by time and apply to each one of us, now.
