Testimonies of Healing
For many years, like Saul of Tarsus, I verily thought I was doing God's service, to the fullest extent, while engaged in the work of the Christian ministry. Born on a foreign mission field, where godly parents had been sent to establish a mission station for a so-called orthodox church, my earliest recollections are of being taught reverence for God and trust in Him.
With gratitude I wish to give this testimony of healing in the hope that my experience may benefit someone who may be in need of such help as I asked for and received. Throughout all of her writings Mrs.
Twenty-two years ago I lay on my bed a physical wreck, suffering from stomach and liver trouble, and nervous prostration. I was in constant pain, had not experienced a normal night's sleep in weeks, and was discouraged and desperate.
When Christian Science was brought to my notice I was rapidly becoming an invalid from what doctors called paralysis of the nerves. I was weak from prostrated nerves, heart trouble, depression, insomnia, hemorrhoids, and constipation.
It would be impossible to enumerate all the benefits and physical healings I have experienced the last ten years, during which I have relied entirely on Christian Science for health, supply, and peace of mind. Two of the best orthopedic specialists in New York city had told me I probably never would be able to walk again with comfort, and I was wearing heavy metal braces in my shoes.
" Freely ye have received, freely give," was Christ Jesus' command to his disciples ere they took their missionary journey. Having received so much good from the printed testimonies of others in the past several years, I feel that my turn to contribute has arrived.
Over fifteen years ago I was forced to find a new basis for thinking. The development of a physical handicap for which materia medica offered no help forced me to turn to Christian Science.
Before taking up the study of Christian Science I was in most unhappy surroundings, and harmony was seldom present. I sought relief in material gayety, but found how ineffectual that was, for the reaction seemed to exaggerate the prevailing discord to an almost unbearable extent.
Christian Science has brought me many blessings for which I am deeply grateful. It has met my every need physically and financially.
That Christian Science heals I can gratefully testify. Some fourteen years ago, after trying the recommendations of my physician, which consisted in change of climate and dieting, together with other medical aid for the relief of lung trouble, stomach trouble, and catarrh, I turned to Christian Science at the kind advice of an aunt who had been interested in it for several years.
