Testimonies of Healing

I am indeed most thankful that God led me to find Christian Science. As a child, and during the early years of married life, I was never strong, and went through experiences of sickness and sorrow that brought me to believe there could not be a God.

In 1912, a friend from New York presented Christian Science to us. For two years, never a day had passed that I had not spent a portion of it on bended knees, pleading to God on behalf of my husband.

Christian Science came to the attention of my husband and myself about one month before he was taken with influenza, during an epidemic eleven years ago. He told me he did not want a physician, and asked me to call a Christian Science practitioner.

Like so many others, I turned to Christian Science only as a last resort. It was towards the end of the year 1910 that I first began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and my first healing came simply through reading this book.

I came to Christian Science for healing at a time when I was about to take a trip to the Pacific Coast. Just a week before I was to start I came down with pleurisy, which had previously never yielded in less than three weeks under medical treatment.

Christian Science has brought so many blessings to our home that it is impossible to write of all of them in one testimony. I should like to tell of a few of the more recent ones, however, with the hope that our experiences may help others.

Having been taught in the Sunday school of a so-called orthodox church, with which I had united when a child, I loved the Bible and desired to live a Christian life. In this Sunday school I asked my teacher, who was a consecrated Christian, why we did not have spiritual healing as with Jesus and his apostles.

It is impossible for me to express in words the gratitude I owe to God for leading me to find Christian Science, through which we have already experienced so many blessings. For years I was afflicted with an intestinal complaint, which became so severe that I could no longer attend to my household duties alone.

" Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind," writes Paul in Romans. Christian Science is literally transforming my life, bringing into it health, strength, joy, supply, activity, and freedom.

One cannot be too grateful to God for the Christ, Truth, as revealed to this day and age through Christian Science. Some years ago, as the result of listening to the arguments of mortal mind, which promised ease in matter, I was led to make certain changes in a business way.
