Testimonies of Healing

Great gratitude impels me to give this testimony. The first time I heard of Christian Science I was sick and in despair.

I was led to seek aid in Christian Science for many sicknesses, sorrows, and losses—of financial support, friends, and health—which had brought me into an almost helpless state. Added to this was the still more distressing fear for the safety and well-being of my three small children and my aged and feeble mother, who were dependent on me for support.

About twenty-two years ago a lady asked me to read an article in the  Christian Science Sentinel.   I refused at first, but then said that to oblige her I would do so.

My first healing was that of eyesight. Eye specialists had told me I would have to wear glasses as long as I lived.

Christian Science was presented to me thirteen years ago, and I immediately embraced it as the "pearl of great price. " I knew at once that at last I had found what I had been looking for since my earliest childhood, namely, the knowledge of a perfect God, who could send no sin, sickness, or death, and of man, to whom was given as a divine birthright all good.

Since Christian Science first came to me through hearing the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, read aloud at home, and attendance at the Sunday school of a branch church, I have often asked myself the question, What do people do without Christian Science? In times of trial, instead of trusting blindly to an unknown God or petitioning a manlike Jehovah, the Christian Scientist has learned to apply the truth that God is the divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. Through Christian Science treatment I have been healed of diphtheria overnight, and have had colds, headaches, and indigestion quickly disappear.

When I was ten years old, an aunt experienced a remarkable healing which led our whole family to the study of Christian Science. I recall with joy the peace which came to me when I first heard a little prayer that was given to us at this time.

Words are inadequate to express the gratitude that I feel for the joy and blessings which the study of Christian Science has brought to me. Through the faithful help and patience of a loyal practitioner I have experienced many healings.

Many years ago, at a time of great need, through a dear aunt I came into Christian Science, after our family doctor had done the best he could for me. Since then I have experienced many healings through the application of this truth, one of which I should like to tell in the hope that it may help someone.
