Testimonies of Healing

It was in 1914 when, with a heart full of prejudice against what I believed Christian Science to be, I went to make my home among those who were striving to live according to its light. Two and a half years later my grandfather came to visit us.

In 1926 about Easter time I was reading the bills on an advertising pillar when an invitation to a Christian Science lecture caught my attention. This was something new to me, and I at once decided to attend the lecture, which was to be given by a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts.

I am most grateful for Christian Science, which was first presented to me about fifteen years ago, when I was greatly in need of physical healing. I seemed to be on the verge of a nervous collapse, suffering with insomnia, for which I had been taking sleeping powders for a number of years.

Among the joys it is possible to experience there is one of which we never grow weary—that of thanking God for all His goodness. We are told on page 567 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy that "Truth and Love come nearer in the hour of woe.

Christian Science was presented to me about fifteen years ago, when I seemed to be standing in "the valley of the shadow" with all faith in materia medica gone. I had been a semi-invalid all my life, having had many diseases, so that I grew to have much more belief in sickness than in health.

When first I became interested in Christian Science there was quite a sense of discouragement and doubt as to my progress. However, I kept on studying and praying that I might have the full proof within myself of the healing power of the Christ, Truth, as shown us by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

In January, 1915, our small son was taken ill with tonsillitis and earache, and was in such pain that I was up with him for ten days and nights. Soon after this the gathering in his ears broke, and he was left so deaf he could only hear loud shouting.

I took up Christian Science for physical healing about nine years ago. I had experienced ill health since girlhood, with no hope from material remedies.

When Christian Science came into our home I was the eldest daughter of nine children. My mother, whose life had held many a trial, eagerly drank of the healing waters of Truth and was healed.
