Testimonies of Healing
It was through the healing of a sister that my attention was first called to Christian Science and the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was begun. For over twenty years Christian Science has been the only physician in our family of four, and many and varied have been the demands made upon it.
As the years go by, I feel an increasing desire to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science. Eight years ago on Thanksgiving Day I attended my first Christian Science service.
I wish to tell of the beautiful healing of a little niece through the loving work done by a practitioner of Christian Science. This little one was frail from birth, and no food could be found that satisfied or nourished her, or that she could retain.
It is a privilege to testify to the efficacy of Christian Science. I have had numerous proofs of its power to bless.
About fourteen years ago, when I was sorrowing over the loss of home and dear ones and had not been able to eat any solid food for six months and was unable to work, I was told by two physicians that my only hope lay in an operation. This operation was performed.
With a deep sense of gratitude I want to give this testimony in the hope that it will help others. After the loss, within a year, of my husband and a child, combined with other troubles, I had a complete nervous breakdown.
Having received help many times from the testimonies given in our periodicals, I take this opportunity of contributing what has been to me a wonderful proof that Truth does indeed heal discordant conditions. For some time I did not seem able to breathe when I attempted to walk any distance; in fact, for a time I could take only a few steps before it would seem necessary for me to rest.
I seem always to have known about Christian Science, for my grandmother was one of its early students, but I did not really begin to apply its wonderful teaching to problems for myself until I was hard pressed. When, on a particular occasion, I turned whole-heartedly to God for help, I was instantaneously healed of a trouble for which I had been told there was no help but an operation; and in over twenty-one years there has not been the slightest return of the difficulty.
Over twenty-two years ago I turned to Christian Science as a last resort for physical healing. Having been left a motherless and delicate babe, I struggled through childhood, girlhood, and young womanhood with a sense of weakness and limitation, and was frequently under medical treatment.
While crossing a highly polished floor I slipped and fell. Great pain was immediately manifested in my arm, but instantly "the scientific statement of being" on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was remembered.
