Testimonies of Healing
When our little daughter was two years old, she was taken ill with typhoid fever. Two doctors examined her and gave us not the slightest hope; in fact, they said she would probably live only a few hours.
Out of deep gratitude to God for all that Christian Science is bringing into my life, I feel that I must try to tell a little of what it has been to me. My father and mother began this study when I was about seven years of age.
To Christian Science I owe my health and happiness. Many beautiful and some instantaneous physical healings, of burns, headaches, toothache, sore throat, sprains, heart trouble, fear of stomach trouble, hysterical nervousness, and functional disorders, have blessed me.
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for Mrs. Eddy, who made it possible for us to have our understanding of Church with us though we may be miles from any church building.
Eight years ago I was in an invalid chair, refusing to have an operation which a specialist said was quite necessary if I wanted to walk without difficulty. This specialist was consulted because he was opposed to operations in general, and we were hoping that his verdict would be different from that of other doctors.
I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing; nevertheless, I needed the healing touch which only Christian Science gives, and after taking up the study in earnest I found I was more harmonious in every way. My heart is filled with gratitude to God and also to Mrs.
Twenty-One years ago I began the study of Christian Science, not because I desired to adopt its teachings, but because I had made the acquaintance of one of its students and wished to prove to her that it was fallacious. I bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, thinking that were I familiar with it I could convince her that it was full of flaws.
I am indeed grateful for the many blessings Christian Science has brought me, and is bringing me every day. It is over nine years since I was healed of a so-called incurable disease for which I had been operated upon nine times, with no permanent improvement.
I have indeed much to be grateful for. Christian Science has given me a healthy, happy viewpoint, courage to meet the many situations that arise in contact with the world in professional life, and harmonious living conditions in a happy and contented home experience.
I had been delicate from childhood, having had catarrh of the head, throat, and bronchial tubes, and also liver complaint. I was seldom without some kind of cold.
