Testimonies of Healing
I am grateful for the experience which brought me into Christian Science—an instantaneous healing of grief and a sense of separation when my mother passed on. This healing was brought about through just a few remarks made about Christian Science by a comforting friend.
I am grateful for the opportunity to express my gratitude for the healing power of Christian Science. Through reading the inspired pages of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I was healed of grief, chronic headaches, colds, and many other conditions.
It is about eleven years since I attended my first Christian Science service. I did not come to Christian Science for healing.
For many years, in which I experienced ill health and morbid mental conditions, I depended on materia medica to meet my needs, but received no permanent relief. Finally, I came to the point where it was a case of "choose you this day whom ye will serve.
Christian Science brought into my experience boundless joy and a certain knowledge of God, who, the Psalmist says, "is a very present help in trouble. " The first real test of God's Word as a healing power came after a year's study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
When I first heard of Christian Science my husband, owing to an incipient so-called incurable disease, was no longer able to carry on our business. With our three small children, I saw myself confronted with problems and decisions of an economic and educational nature which from a human point of view seemed too difficult for me.
The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals have been so helpful to me that I thought I should like to add mine. The first article I read in The Christian Science Journal nearly twenty years ago convinced me that Christian Science was the truth.
In childhood I was healed by Christian Science of the effects of drinking concentrated lye, after my mother had been told there was no help from material remedies. During the interim, I depended upon the truth for help and was many times healed of serious ailments, yet I accepted the truth more on the basis of belief than of understanding, my thought being more or less dormant.
I should like to express gratitude for the great good that has come to me since I began the study of Christian Science nearly twelve years ago. There has been hardly a day during that time without some proof of the healing power of Truth.
I wish to tell of the incident that caused me to become interested in Christian Science. My brother had passed on, and as I was the only unmarried member of the family, it seemed to be my duty to take care of his wife and three small children.
