Testimonies of Healing

It is now over thirty-three years since I first heard of Christian Science. My mother, who then lived in Ontario, Canada, was very much distressed about my health, because our family physician held out no hopes for my recovery.

Christian Science has so completely changed my life and way of thinking that I may truly say it is as if I had been born again. From the time I was a child of eleven years I had suffered from a most severe form of bowel trouble.

I cannot find words to express my gratitude to God for the good that has come to me through Christian Science, which was first brought to my notice by a friend in California who told me in a letter what a wonderful healing she had experienced. The doctors had said she had cancer of the stomach.

I too am most grateful for Christian Science. After five years of semi-invalidism as the result of an operation (and the doctors said that another must be performed soon), I obtained a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from the library and read this book for two weeks, most of the time lying on my back and unable to straighten my legs.

Over thirteen years ago I had my first healing and took up the study of Christian Science. Previous to this I had suffered for a number of years from what is known in the medical profession as rheumatic blood poisoning.

I WANT to thank Christian Science for all the blessings my family and I have received since knowing of it. At the beginning of this study I was healed of a falling of the stomach which had lasted two years.

Over twelve years ago Christian Science found me in the depths of despair and mental anguish. Physically I was beyond resuscitation through material means, and mentally I was battling with a problem that was too stupendous for my frail human intellect to understand and cope with.

Christian Science was brought to me at a time when I was in deep distress; when everything seemed dark and there was little hope of light. I needed help mentally, physically, and financially.

With a heart filled with gratitude, I wish to testify to the great blessings I have received in Christian Science. For nearly a year I suffered from an abdominal complaint and was always under medical treatment.

When I first attended a Christian Science church it was not for physical healing, but rather to encourage a friend who had been given up by the doctors. The beauty of this religion slowly dawned on me, and after several months I decided to seek help from a Christian Science practitioner for a physical disorder to relieve which I had resorted to drugs daily.
