Testimonies of Healing
Some time ago our little boy, aged ten years, was stricken with what the doctors call bronchial pneumonia and pleurisy. For two weeks the doctor attended him every day, and X-ray pictures taken of his lungs were said to show considerable fluid.
Since childhood I had suffered almost uninterruptedly from severe chronic colds, as well as from hereditary stomach and heart trouble. According to the doctors' diagnoses these colds had resulted in an abdominal complaint.
My first experience in Christian Science was of its gentle healing of sorrow and of a sense of separation from loved ones. Within the following two years I was enabled to meet and master, through Christian Science alone, that which I had always feared and believed had power to harm me—tuberculosis of the lungs and throat.
It would take too long to enumerate all the blessings which I have received since I commenced the study of Christian Science. Although I did not take it up for physical healing for myself, the first time I read our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I had an instantaneous healing of chronic sore throat, from which I had suffered since childhood.
Fourteen years ago, through the healing of invalidism I came into Christian Science. At that time my consciousness was pretty well filled with the so-called laws of materia medica, as I had spent seven years in one of our largest hospitals, three years as a pupil nurse and four years as a graduate.
It is with great joy I can tell of the healing truth which is ours in the proper understanding of the Bible as given us in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Almost eight years ago, when first Christian Science was presented to me, I had been suffering with a continuous headache for about three months.
It is with deep gratitude that I wish to glorify God for what Christian Science has done for me. For many years I suffered from trouble with my back, from falling of the intestines and other organs.
" For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. " In Christian Science we are taught to prove what we know.
In my childhood I became convinced that, as Mrs. Eddy has stated, "Truth is revealed.
A little over two years ago we had a wonderful proof of God's protecting care. A telegram was received stating that my son had been severely injured and taken to a hospital.
