Testimonies of Healing
Over twelve years ago, after much material aid, including a surgical operation, had failed to help me, I assumed that there was no cure for me on this side of the grave. So I began earnestly searching for God, in whom I believed, but I did not know where to find Him.
Eleven years ago Christian Science healed me of sleeplessness and severe headaches, and transformed me from a discontented semi-invalid into a well, happy, and useful member of society. It seems to me that my life up to that time had been a continual search for happiness and a continual struggle against lack and ill health.
I have great reason to be grateful to Christian Science. Everything good that has come into my life, the peace, happiness, and the wonderful sense of security and protection, has come as the result of understanding what God is,—infinite Mind, divine Principle, Life,—the relation of a loving Father to His child, and our relationship to Him.
Christian Science is proving each day to be the "pearl of great price," and the fulfillment of the promise of Christ Jesus that he would send us a Comforter that would abide with us forever. Christian Science found me when I had lost all faith in God and the world.
In the year 1908, when the doctors pronounced my case fatal and the end seemed at hand, a Christian Scientist came to my father and told him about Christian Science. She asked for permission to send a practitioner to me, and he consented.
After over five years of earnest study of Christian Science, during which time I have experienced many healings, both spiritual and physical, I feel I must express my heartfelt gratitude for this beautiful truth, so lovingly and unselfishly given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Christian Science was brought to my notice at a time when I had visions of becoming a semi-invalid, owing to a serious nervous complaint which threatened to deprive me of the use of my right arm.
It is now over seven years since I became interested in Christian Science. At that time I was in a very bad condition.
In my own experience there was a long struggle before I was able to claim the harmony that comes when God is allowed to govern and guide. Having planned a teaching career, I was full of resentment when I found I had failed medically for the profession.
After meeting with a severe accident, I was told by a physician that I had fractured two ribs just between the shoulders. In about two weeks the bandages were removed, but I still suffered great pain, which seemed to be in my spine.
Words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards Christian Science. It came to me in time of great need nineteen years ago.
