Testimonies of Healing

Of the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to me, that of the healing of crippled hands means much every day. Having the fear of blindness removed, and being able to lay aside glasses, worn from about the age of fourteen years, while reading the first chapter of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, proved conclusively to me that Christian Science could give me the understanding of God for which I longed.

To say I am grateful does not express the depth of my boundless love for the understanding of Christian Science that heals and saves; and when I read Mrs. Eddy's comforting words, "Trials are proofs of God's care" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.

I have many things to be grateful for, and wish to relate a healing which occurred in our family a few years ago. Our youngest child, a boy of two years, fell from a chair, striking his elbow on the floor with such force that he cried out in distress.

About six years ago, while attending a Christian Science lecture, I was healed of deafness in one ear of ten years' duration. After a serious attack of typhoid fever I had completely lost the hearing of my right ear.

I should like to tell of the way I came into Christian Science. I called at church to take my wife home.

Eight years ago our daughter, then ten years old, passed on. The shock caused me to lose my health, and resulted in a mental and physical breakdown.

As it is about seventeen years since I first began the study of Christian Science I feel it is time that I sent a testimony to one of our periodicals for publication, to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. It has healed me of chronic bronchial asthma.

Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science; in fact, it has changed my whole life by changing my thinking, and has given me a sure foundation, something I can depend upon in times of trouble, whether it be sickness or lack of any sort. It is over thirteen years since my family and I found Christian Science, and during that time we have had many proofs of God's loving care.

Christian Science came into our lives about thirteen years ago at a time when we were greatly in need of comfort and healing. After the first reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we destroyed all our medicine, and since then have relied upon the truths of Christian Science to heal us of whatever trouble seemed to present itself to thought.

As a child I suffered greatly from seeing people suffer as a result of injustice, unkindness, and sickness, not being able to help them; and this became much more pronounced as I grew up. I sought the cause of these distressing manifestations and brooded over the seeming failure of God's help.
