Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my thankfulness for Christian Science, which has helped me to discard homeopathy, to which I had been a slave for ten years. It was no easy matter to give up the tiny pills which had seemed to cure my rheumatism, as well as a couple of other complaints.

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the many blessings I have received from Christian Science. Before taking up the study of this beautiful truth I was very unhappy, fearing almost everything and everybody, and had lost faith in all but a very few of my friends.

Christian Science came into our home in an hour of great need; and since then we have experienced many healings of serious conditions, both mental and physical, and also of injuries. A healing I wish to mention specifically is that of burns.

With sincere gratitude to God I can testify to a healing which I experienced in Christian Science. Several years ago I had heard of the blessings of this Science through some people I know well.

I had been suffering for years, so intensely at times that I was given morphine tablets, until I could not, as it then seemed to me, endure without them; and the more I took the more it seemed I must have. I do not remember the time when I did not try to live as a Christian and study the Bible, and I tried to trust God to help me and heal me; but I would become very much discouraged, and life seemed dark and fearful at times.

It is with profound gratitude for a healing of a sprained ankle that I give this testimony. During the cold, stormy days of February, 1926, I was spending a day in one of our suburbs, and while out walking snow began to fall, covering the icy remains of a previous snowstorm.

About five years ago I was healed of chronic bronchitis through Christian Science. I had been the victim of this disease for about nine years.

It is about three years since I first took up the study of Mrs. Eddy's textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in conjunction with the Bible, which before had been a closed book to me; and I am very glad to have the privilege of testifying that through the understanding gained in Christian Science I have had many healings, both physical and mental.

When first I read some Christian Science literature sent me by a friend, I felt it was too good to be true. But when, a few months later, I began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to attend the services, I soon changed my thought and began to see that there is nothing too good to be true, since God, good, only is true.

A feeling of deep gratitude prompts me to give a testimony telling of the great blessings I have received in Christian Science. I have enjoyed reading The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, and the testimonies in them have encouraged me to search the Scriptures, and to learn of God and His spiritual ideas, which are a wonderful comfort to me.
