Testimonies of Healing
It gives me great pleasure to be privileged to express my gratitude and to give this testimony. For fifteen years I suffered from chest and heart disease, which forced me to struggle for breath for nights at a time, completely exhausting me by morning.
Fourteen years ago I was stricken with a severe nervous breakdown. After everything had been done in a medical way, Christian Science was presented to me.
About nineteen years ago I became interested in Christian Science, and since then I have had many wonderful healings, some being instantaneous and others requiring much prayerful study and work. Although I have always been very grateful for the quick healings, I realize that much growth in understanding has come from having to turn constantly to God for guidance and help in working out what seemed to be prolonged and difficult problems.
At the end of March, 1925, I was taken with violent pains in the right kidney. After trying many treatments, hypodermic injections, and so on, I was told by two physicians that my only chance lay in an operation.
Christian Science means boundless benefits to me; and I feel impelled to bear testimony, that I may help others as others have helped me. "Man's extremity" proved to be "God's opportunity" in my finding this beautiful new-old truth at a time when my very existence seemed engulfed in darkness and despair.
" And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. " Free! Free! What a wonderful revelation —free from all the ills that beset mankind! I express my profound gratitude to God; to our Master, Christ Jesus; and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for what Christian Science has done for me.
Christian Science has been of such benefit to me that I should be very ungrateful if I did not express my gratitude for the healings I have received. When I first became interested, I do not think I fully realized what had been done for me.
The testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel are always a source of great joy to me, and I have often felt that I should like to add my humble declaration of thanks to their columns. I am thankful to God and Christian Science for a peace that "passeth all understanding," and for innumerable blessings that I have received, of which I try hard to be worthy.
Ten years ago the life of a fellow worker impressed me so deeply that I never rested until I had discovered what it was that governed her conduct. She proved to be a Christian Scientist.
I was induced by a friend to try Christian Science after my physician had declared that four operations would be necessary before I could ever be well again. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown, and was in constant pain from chronic appendicitis.
