Testimonies of Healing

Through the sincere desire of a member of my family who had turned to Christian Science for physical healing, I consented to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, though for many years I had entertained an ignorantly critical opinion of it. To my amazement, I found my prejudice being dispelled, and soon realized that my former concept of Christian Science had been entirely erroneous.

In 1907, I turned to Christian Science for the first time, to seek help for our eldest daughter; and after a very few weeks of treatment this little seven-year-old girl was healed of a long-standing stomach trouble which several doctors had tried in vain to cure. The healing, which has been permanent, awakened in me and in the members of my family a great interest in the teaching which gives so much hope of health and harmony to suffering mankind.

For more than eight years the fruits of the study of Christian Science have benefited me. Our family were members of evangelical churches, and we lived according to our faith and knowledge of their teaching, but the fear of evil as being more powerful than good and lack of understanding of Christ, Truth, caused us to suffer the effects of these false beliefs.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude for a wonderful proof of the healing power of Christian Science. Our small daughter was taken seriously ill, and it seemed imperative to send for her father at once.

In 1926 my small boy in running along a highly polished corridor tripped and fell, twisting his leg, spraining his ankle, badly tearing the ligaments, and turning over his foot so that it hung helpless. His knee was very much drawn up.

Christian Science came to me about twelve years ago as an answer to prayer that I might get a better understanding of God, in order to become free from the numerous ills, both physical and otherwise, that seemed to claim me. I had come to the point where all material supports failed me, and I knew there was no other help than God; but I did not know how to obtain God's help.

It is with profound gratitude for Christian Science that I send this testimony of a healing of heart trouble which I experienced a few years ago. From the age of ten years I had been in bondage to this difficulty, which involved frequent attacks.

I have been completely restored to health through Christian Science. Words cannot express my gratitude for having been shown the way of Truth, Life, and Love.

This testimony is the expression of deep experiences covering years of yearning, suffering, and the triumph of Soul-sense over material sense. For some years I had been an earnest student of Christian Science, gaining many healings and much light, but never much constant health or strength; and since childhood a deep hunger had remained unsatisfied, a longing for more unfoldment.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I take this opportunity of bearing witness to the great fact that Christian Science, when studied, understood, and applied, as set forth in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, does heal the sick, regenerate the sinner, and lift mankind from the slough of sorrow and despair into the sunlight and joy of man's true relationship to his Father-Mother God. For the past five years through the daily study of the Bible, Science and Health, and also the Christian Science periodicals, I have had many healings.
