Testimonies of Healing

One of the greatest proofs of the sustaining power of the truth, in what seemed to be a rather slow healing, occurred after the birth of our son in 1924. Previous to his birth I had allowed thoughts of resentment and fear to enter my consciousness, due to a business failure of my husband.

With a grateful heart I wish to testify to all the blessings which God has let me experience in Christian Science. Those who knew me several years ago would not recognize me today: an unhappy individual burdened with pain has become a joyous person.

Under conditions most distressing to human sense, the power of Truth was demonstrated to me, following the promise, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. " This promise was fulfilled through the very patient and loving help of a practitioner, and I was lifted out of and apart from these seeming inharmonies.

Christian Science has indeed delivered me from a deep and horrible pit caused through harboring wrong thoughts. When a friend lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, over four years ago, I was suffering from extreme depression and fits of blackness and fear.

Christian Science was first mentioned in our home in my early teens, but as I did not know where or how to obtain further information, the subject was dropped. A few months later, when my mother was preparing to undergo an operation which the physicians said would prove fatal, a telegram was received from a relative asking her to go to the person mentioned in the telegram.

Christian Science came into my life when I was quite young through some loved ones. Being young I did not read Christian Science literature as I should have; but my mother and I read the Lesson-Sermon.

Many are the benefits I have received since taking up the study of Christian Science more than twenty years ago. I should like especially to give out a word of hope and encouragement to those who may be struggling with what seems to be a stubborn form of error, whether of sin, sickness, sorrow, or lack.

In 1918 my mother was takenvery seriously ill, and several doctors told me that she would not live long. However, she recovered, but was taken very ill again a little later.

It was not the appeal of physical healing that drew me to the study of this Science, but the promise of that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding. " Recently I have had a wonderful proof of God's healing and protecting care in a physical way.

The testimonies which appear in the Christian Science periodicals have been a source of inspiration to me during the last nineteen years. With a heart full of gratitude I wish to add my testimony, hoping that it may bless someone, as I myself have been blessed.
