Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science came into my life when I was quite young through some loved ones. Being young I did not read Christian Science literature as I should have; but my mother and I read the Lesson-Sermon.
Many are the benefits I have received since taking up the study of Christian Science more than twenty years ago. I should like especially to give out a word of hope and encouragement to those who may be struggling with what seems to be a stubborn form of error, whether of sin, sickness, sorrow, or lack.
In 1918 my mother was takenvery seriously ill, and several doctors told me that she would not live long. However, she recovered, but was taken very ill again a little later.
The testimonies which appear in the Christian Science periodicals have been a source of inspiration to me during the last nineteen years. With a heart full of gratitude I wish to add my testimony, hoping that it may bless someone, as I myself have been blessed.
It was not the appeal of physical healing that drew me to the study of this Science, but the promise of that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding. " Recently I have had a wonderful proof of God's healing and protecting care in a physical way.
Some time ago I came from the train late in the evening and took the street car home. Being deep in thought, I saw too late that the car was just passing the stopping place where I had to get out.
I wish to express my gratitude to God for having led me to take up the study of Christian Science; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and to Mrs. Eddy for the life of self-sacrifice she lived in order to give to the world an explanation of the Bible in such a way that we all can learn the way to health and holiness.
Deep gratitude impels me to give my testimony for the blessings which my family and I received about five years ago from Christian Science. I was seeking for truth when a friend gave me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
Before I reached the age of twelve years, a little neighbor asked me to attend a Christian Science Sunday School with her. Shortly afterwards I enrolled as a member, and had the privilege of attending until I reached the age of twenty.
A few years ago my family and I heard of Christian Science; and after we had read several copies of Der Herold, we began to study the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. We were very happy to have found a religion which, through its revelations, gave us a beautiful understanding of God and His relationship to man.
