Testimonies of Healing

It is with deep gratitude for the blessings which I have received as the result of the study and application of Christian Science that I tell of the following demonstration. Some time ago I was taken ill, and after a few days a large swelling appeared on my cheek.

While I was taking a bath late one cold night an electric heater was in use, being stationed on a high hamper at the end of the tub. Thinking that the heater was not receiving current, I reached out while sitting in the tub of water and put my hand on the electric coil in the center of the heater.

In the winter of 1917 I went to a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting out of curiosity. The Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, were both strangers to me then.

" Awake thou that sleepest" was spoken to me when I was ill with nervous prostration, lying as though drugged; and I was raised up almost instantly. I was healed of what a doctor said was bronchitis in its worst form.

I am truly grateful to God and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for our beautiful religion. I am grateful for the understanding our practitioners have of God, so that they can help those who seek the truth.

Although I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, it is with deep gratitude that I testify to the efficacy of Christian Science to heal physically, mentally, and financially. It has been our only help since 1913.

Looking back to the years before I knew of Christian Science, and comparing them with the ten or twelve years that have succeeded them, during which the study and application of this Science have brought to me a liberation, activity, and happiness undreamed of before, I can say with the Psalmist that God has "brought me up .

During the year 1911 I was a very discouraged, sickly woman, having suffered for nearly a year. I had been taking various treatments, but was not healed.

In February, 1919, when thirteen years old, I returned home from school one day quite exhausted and lay down and went to sleep. When I awoke my right leg pained me, and I could not move it at all.

I was on the stage for many years, and from childhood had been afflicted with constipation. Each day I was obliged to use material remedies, and in almost every city where I appeared I consulted the best doctors, but without results.
