Testimonies of Healing
It is with a sense of increasing love and gratitude that I give this testimony to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science; and I know that just in so far as I am obedient to this teaching, am I able to prove "God's omnipotence and the healing power of the divine Love in what it has done and is doing for mankind" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 55 ).
I first became interested in Christian Science about eighteen years ago. I had been sick for so many years that I finally became so discouraged I did not see anything to live for.
When God led me to Christian Science I was in dire distress. My mother had been ill for three years, and the doctors we consulted could not help her; they could not even diagnose her case.
During the last twelve years the numerous testimonies which I have read in the Christian Science periodicals have been a source of great comfort to me, and an encouragement to continue my study of the subject. I am grateful for the understanding I have gained of God as an ever present help, which can be proved under all circumstances.
A written expression of my gratitude for all the blessings that have come to me and mine through the study of Christian Science, is but an iota of the good I must do in order to prove my sincerity. The wondrous light of Truth and Love that has come to me since taking up this study, about fifteen years ago, is beyond words to express.
It is impossible for me to express in words my gratitude for Christian Science, through the study of which I am learning the truth about God and about man as His perfect reflection. In 1917, while teaching in the Cleveland, Ohio, public schools, after five months' treatment by a physician I was told that I must spend the remainder of my days in California or Arizona because of what he diagnosed as tuberculosis.
The desire to acknowledge some of the many benefits received through Christian Science, and to do all in my power to show my gratitude, is the reason for this testimony. The truth came to me at a time of great need and, it seemed, in a remarkable way.
It is ten years since I first began to grasp the truth as revealed in Christian Science. My steps have seemed slow, but when I look back the change seems wonderful.
Several times I have tried to account for the genuine interest which I felt upon hearing from a new acquaintance something about the teachings of Christian Science for the first time. It was not merely his assertion that Christian Science could heal all manner of sickness and sin that enlisted my favor from the very beginning.
In her book "Rudimental Divine Science" ( p. 2 ) our Leader, Mrs.
