Testimonies of Healing
In Malachi we read, "Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. " This has literally been my experience in Christian Science, which has been my only physician and guide for many years.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the many healings and blessings I have received in Christian Science. Two years ago, while riding my bicycle, I was run over and suffered concussion of the brain, a broken collar bone, and bruises.
I was not attracted to Christian Science by physical healing; but I have had many proofs of physical healing, as well as help out of many discordant conditions, since taking up the study. I had been a victim of nervous headaches since childhood, and these have vanished.
For years it seemed necessary that I diet, and the diet consisted of hardly enough to sustain me. With sleepless nights and restless days, my endurance was about exhausted when Christian Science came into my life.
In 1923, when I was in the valley of the shadow of death, I first learned of Christian Science and all its blessings. Having been greatly overworked in order to provide for material needs, I reached the last stages of tuberculosis; the right hip was completely dislocated and the right side seemed lifeless.
Gratitude compels me to delay no longer in telling of some of my healings in Christian Science. In 1918 my unhappy and depressed condition reached a climax.
About fourteen years ago my granddaughter was healed by Christian Science of curvature of the spine. She was taken with this trouble when she was four years old, and for nine years was under the treatment of one of New York's most noted specialists.
Christian Science has brought a wonderful change for the better in my outlook on life. When this beautiful truth found me it was my last hope, for I had been in bondage to the morphine habit for nearly nine years.
From the time I was a small child I had been taught to look upon Christian Science as something to be shunned. After graduating from high school I was employed by a Christian Scientist whose wife and daughter were members of the local branch church.
I first read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, out of curiosity. It so impressed me as giving one an understanding of God and His law which, if put into practice, would meet all one's needs, that I resolved to try it without mentioning the fact to anyone; and if I could not prove it to have nothing more to do with it.
