Testimonies of Healing

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to some of the many blessings which have come to me through the teachings of Christian Science. Before I took up the study of this subject, nearly fifteen years ago, my life was empty and discouraging.

The testimonies have been a great help to me, and I send this account of my healing with profound gratitude for all the blessings that Christian Science has brought to me. For many years I suffered from a complication of diseases, including neuritis and internal inflammations, for which an operation was recommended but without the promise of a cure; and for sixteen years I was constantly troubled with bleeding from the nose, which would continue for hours, causing great depression and weakness.

It is almost fifteen years since Christian Science healed me of chills and fever, and it has been my only help since then. The truth has never failed me, but has led me through many hard trials.

When I first heard of Christian Science thirteen years ago, I was suffering from severe mental depression together with certain physical troubles. For two years I had been searching for spiritual healing, for I was sure God could heal me.

Christian Science found us when we were in deep mental depression, hungering after a God of love, a Comforter. We have truly found all in this beautiful truth.

I am very grateful for Christian Science, as it came to me when I was in great trouble and seemed to have no human friend to turn to. It seemed indeed the supreme test, for I must either love those who had despitefully used me and had said all manner of evil against me falsely, and receive more good, or cherish resentment and lose all the good I had gained.

Job said, "Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! "My earliest recollection is of this same desire manifesting itself in me—even as a child. In motherhood, after the passing on of my little daughter, when joy seemed to have passed out of my life, I found myself walking out at night alone under the stars, impelled by this same intense longing to find God; yet an impassable barrier seemed between us, although my whole being cried out that He was near and dear.

My attention was first drawn to Christian Science through the healing of a friend, and a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was immediately purchased; but it was not until a few years later that I became sufficiently interested to take up the study of this Science.

I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and not being at present located where there is a society, I have not the privilege of voicing my thankfulness at the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. During the so-called epidemic of influenza, although my three children and I were seemingly attacked by the disease, with the help of a practitioner we came through safely.

As I am a living witness to the power of Truth, I know that I owe to God and to our Leader a deep debt of gratitude, for through the knowledge of Christian Science as given to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was led out of darkness into light.
