Testimonies of Healing
While living near Boston, during the spring of 1915, I was led by curiosity to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in The Mother Church. I had then been wearing glasses for nearly fifteen years for a structural defect of the eyes, and the law had been laid down that glasses would always be needed.
For several months I have felt that I ought to express my gratitude publicly for the beautiful healing that I have experienced in Christian Science. For two years I was in constant pain, although I had tried every conceivable remedy for rheumatism.
I am grateful, indeed, for what Christian Science has done for me. I had been ill about three years and had undergone three operations, and when Christian Science came to me in December, 1916, it was twenty-one months since I had walked across my room.
On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says: ''Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more.
A short time before Mrs. Eddy ordained the Bible and ''Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to be the pastor of the Christian Science church, a minister came to the place where I then lived and preached what he at first called "the truth.
The past three years, during which time I have earnestly studied Christian Science, have been the happiest of my life. I have found this truth to be of practical value, a demonstrable religion, indeed "a very present help in trouble.
It is with a desire to encourage others to seek this healing and saving truth, which brings such peace, health, and happiness, that I offer this testimony. We have had many proofs of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God since we took up the study of Christian Science.
I am deeply grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me. In 1910 I commenced to suffer from a severe stomach disorder and other internal troubles.
Christian Science has indeed proved an efficacious remedy in many ways. Since becoming interested in its teachings I have been healed of a number of physical ills, among which was a goiter that to mortal sense was incurable.
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I tell briefly of my coming into Christian Science. Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
