Testimonies of Healing
I Desire to testify to the power of Truth as demonstrated in my healing after all human aid had failed to help me, and my case had been pronounced hopeless. In the year 1912 while at work in the woods I was suddenly taken ill, the trouble appearing to be in the stomach, and a neighbor was obliged to take me home in a hayrack.
I would like to express my gratitude for the many blessings experienced through the understanding of Christian Science. I took up the study of this religion in July, 1915.
Five years ago Christian Science enabled me to cut away from the smoking habit of over twenty years' standing. The change was instantaneous and complete, and there has never been any desire to smoke since.
I have had many beautiful healings through the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science, which for more than eleven years has met my every need. I have found that this Science is equal to any emergency; in fact, it truly offers a full salvation, for its Principle is God, divine Love.
So many blessings have come to me through Christian Science that perhaps I have taken them too much as a matter of course. At present I am where I cannot tell of my gratitude at our Wednesday evening meetings, so am sending this testimony in the hope that through our periodicals I may help some one else.
Several members of my family with myself came into Christian Science over three years ago, and since then we have experienced many and quick healings. Rheumatism, tonsillitis, gas (mine) poisoning, and other ills have been overcome, and glasses have been laid aside.
For several months I have felt that I ought to express my gratitude publicly for the beautiful healing that I have experienced in Christian Science. For two years I was in constant pain, although I had tried every conceivable remedy for rheumatism.
While living near Boston, during the spring of 1915, I was led by curiosity to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in The Mother Church. I had then been wearing glasses for nearly fifteen years for a structural defect of the eyes, and the law had been laid down that glasses would always be needed.
I am grateful, indeed, for what Christian Science has done for me. I had been ill about three years and had undergone three operations, and when Christian Science came to me in December, 1916, it was twenty-one months since I had walked across my room.
On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says: ''Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more.
