Testimonies of Healing

The following experience seems to me to illustrate the teaching of Christian Science that all physical effects, even surgical conditions, are of mental origin. At nine o'clock one morning I was in an exposed part of the city when there was a high wind, and my hat was blown off.

A little more than three years ago Christian Science was first brought to my notice, but I did not understand how anyone could be healed without a doctor. An operation which was performed on my nose at that time, affected the eyes so badly I could not read and could hardly see without glasses.

Christian Science has brought such an abundance of good into my life that I never can find words to express my thankfulness. I have been changed from a despondent, nervous invalid to a useful, happy woman.

So much benefit has come to me through reading the testimonies of others, I feel that I should give some expression of my thankfulness. My first healing through Christian Science took place about two years ago when a dislocated vertebra of the spine became adjusted.

I first read Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" from curiosity, in order to find out the reason for so much seeming prejudice toward it by the clergy.

While in attendance at religious services at the front, I would often think of the time when being in the Army seemed a thing impossible for me. The doctors had said that I had a leakage of the heart and stomach trouble.

It is with the greatest of pleasure that I testify to the truth of Miss Scale's testimony. As her employer I was called to her a few moments after the accident occurred, and found her most terribly injured, and unconscious.

My life was saved by Christian Science treatment just a year ago, in the summer of 1918. I was healed of the apparently fatal effects of an accident, and gained the realization and understanding of divine Love and Truth.

It is indeed difficult to express in words my gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science has brought to our home. I did not come to it for physical healing; in fact, I fought every step of the way into Christian Science.

When I first became interested in Christian Science I was greatly in need of help and guidance, both physical and mental, and this teaching met my need wonderfully. For years I lived on a very restricted diet, not being able to retain any other food.
