Testimonies of Healing

A few years ago, after suffering from stomach and bowel disorder for years, I had a very acute attack and was obliged to take to my bed. The attending physician pronounced the trouble ulceration of the stomach and bowels.

It would be difficult to give an adequate expression of thanks for the benefits which I and my dear relatives have received through Christian Science within the last two and a half years. Wonderful indeed has been the way in which we have been attracted one after another by this wonderful teaching, from distant Hungary to Dresden, Germany, in the search for the healing of mind and body.

When I was a small child, my mother was led to Christian Science for physical healing. In it she found not only physical healing but spiritual peace and joy, and was transformed from a nervous, miserable, unhappy woman to the picture of health and happiness.

The following experience has made Christian Science nearer and dearer than ever before, and brought with it the unselfish desire to share its tender blessings with those who may be seeking a very present savior from sorrow or disease. It brought an uplifted sense of the allness of good and of the power of one right thought to destroy or displace the wrong thoughts that clamor for expression in our experience.

For some years prior to coming into touch with Christian Science I was quietly led to separate myself from all Christian churches, although during this period of what my Christian friends called backsliding, I had a strong desire to know God. Then Christian Science was brought to my attention by a fellow worker.

With a heart full of gratitude to God I give my testimony, hoping thereby to help some one. It was in 1907 that the thought kept recurring to me, What is the truth about life? I began to search, and for three years read books on natural science and theology.

When three years old, my son was taken ill with a high fever, but not much alarm was felt until his left arm became paralyzed. We called a physician, but he did not seem to understand the cause of the difficulty.

I gladly testify to the truthfulness of my mother's statement as to her healing. We are very grateful for our knowledge of Christian Science.

I desire to testify to the healing power of Christian Science and to give utterance to some of the gratitude felt for its ministrations. Having been reared in the so-called orthodox belief, I supposed there was little opportunity for salvation elsewhere.

It is a duty as well as a privilege to testify to what Christian Science has done for me. I heard of this teaching when living in the East, but always from sources which were unfavorable to it.
