Testimonies of Healing
When the light has come and we no more sit in darkness, we should let it so shine that men may know of one more instance in which spiritual healing for both mind and body has been experienced. Some six years ago I was in darkness, knowing not that the kingdom of God was at hand, but praying that such might be the case, and that some sign of it would be given me.
I have experienced so much help and so many blessings through Christian Science that I am desirous of expressing my gratitude. In reading the testimonies of healing, questions which had presented themselves to me have been answered, and I have been greatly helped thereby; and in a similar way, in telling my experiences, I may bring some fellow being a message of hope.
Christian Science found me a little more than three years ago at the end of a battle for health and for life, a struggle which had lasted over four years, with doctors and hospitals, with medicines, the surgeon's knife, special diet, and mountain air all failing to give the desired relief. At the end of three and a half years of suffering, I was informed by my home physician that he could do nothing more for me, and advised me to try a noted surgeon of New York city.
In prayerful thanksgiving to God that one was found in this day and generation pure enough and brave enough to demonstrate and give to humanity the statement of Truth contained in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I send this testimonial. While still a boy, a small dice or cube was inhaled into my lungs, which caused much suffering and made breathing difficult.
In August, 1908, my attention was called to Christian Science by a dear sister, who wrote to me that she was having treatment, and at the same time requested me to procure a copy of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, as she wanted me to read it and tell her what I thought of it.
In thankfulness to God, and with gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, I send my testimony of healing, hoping it may encourage and help others.
I wish to give grateful testimony to the correctness of the foregoing statement of my mother regarding her illness in Germany in the winter of 1911. When I reached her on the evening of Sunday, Feb.
ON Thursday the 2d of February, 1911,1 was suddenly seized with all the symptoms of what is known as Bright's disease, a complaint to which, as I subsequently learned, I had been sentenced by a number of persons, including a doctor of medicine residing in the pension in Germany where I was then staying. My condition rapidly became so serious that on Friday my daughter telegraphed to England for absent treatment.
I was operated on for an abnormal growth on the breast, but the disease returned. I then had one treatment in Christian Science from a practitioner, and also read the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
The first time I ever entered a Christian Science church I did so under protest. A dear sister was to become a member, and while I was glad that she was at last connecting herself with a church, I was not very well pleased with her choice.
