Testimonies of Healing
I WAS STUNNED when I learned that a meeting that required a lot of preparation on my part was to be held three days earlier than I had been told. I was torn between anger at the club members for not correcting the date and gratitude that I had at least learned of the mistake the day before the meeting! I already had an appointment scheduled for the afternoon before the meeting and another commitment in the evening.
IN THE LATE 1980s my husband came in close contact with a Christian Scientist friend, who happened to be his colleague as well. During this time my husband started attending Sunday services conducted by Christian Science Society, Chandigarh, and my son attended Sunday School.
TWO SPECIFIC INCIDENTS stand out as important milestones in my understanding of God's love for us all. Several years ago, in my occupation as a truck driver, I found myself about 600 miles from home on the evening before an important event that I needed to attend the next morning.
ABOUT EIGHT YEARS AGO a medical diagnosis showed that I had diabetes. I was told that I must go on a strict diet and take medication for the rest of my life.
Just recently I had a wonderful healing of my hand. All of a sudden, one of my fingers began to be painful.
One evening , my husband I were having dinner at the home of some dear friends. Just before dinner was served, our hostess informed us that there were some toothpicks in the entree she was serving.
One morning recently , I couldn't do anything that required me to bend over even slightly without severe pain. I began to pray immediately.
For me , one of the most meaningful statements in Science and Health is this one: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" ( p. 494 ).
This statement of Mary Baker Eddy's has been very important in my life: "We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all" ( The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 158 ).
I've had many proofs of God's loving care in my life. As a child, I was healed of scarlet fever through prayer.
