Testimonies of Healing

My parents became interested in Christian Science when I was about two, and there were many healings in our family, including my healing of a broken leg when I was eight. After I was grown and married, on the several occasions when our children were young and I was wakened in the night to find them feeling ill, what a sense of gratitude and peace I felt to know that Christian Science treatment is an immediate help.

"Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, hath elevated them to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual idea of man and his divine Principle, Love. Twenty years ago personal experience and university studies of psychology and philosophy led me to lose confidence in conventional material medicine, and I resolved not to have medical treatment for any reason from that point on. Some years later, after I had studied and experimented with homeopathy, naturalism, yoga, theosophy, and Buddhism, a great trial presented itself.

Our family has witnessed many healings through the study of Christian Science, but the following ones stand out. Shortly before the birth of our third daughter the doctor told us that there were physical complications that could cause the baby's death during delivery.

I am very grateful for Christian Science and for all the blessings it has brought to me and mine. I was not raised in Christian Science.

I am grateful for the continuous unfolding of the idea of Church, and for its representation by the Church of Christ, Scientist, which has blessed every aspect of my life. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from my earliest years.

As a child, I lived next door to a family of Christian Scientists. I was impressed by the healings of their children.

"Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart" ( Ps. 119:111 ).

"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" ( Deut. 33:27 ).

With a great deal of love and appreciation to God for our Master, Christ Jesus, and for his dedicated follower, Mary Baker Eddy, I write this testimony. As a lifelong Christian Scientist, with the exception of a few unfruitful years when I stopped studying Science, I have witnessed many wonderful examples of God's guidance and care.
