Testimonies of Healing
This testimony is long past due, since I have experienced many healings, through Christian Science treatment, during well over forty years. From early childhood I was troubled with many maladies—migraine headaches, severe head and chest colds, and catarrh, to mention the most troublesome ones.
About three years ago, one Friday after work I was incapacitated by a severe pain in my side. My wife sensed the urgency of the situation and, at my request, promptly called for prayerful assistance from a Christian Science practitioner.
My heart is filled with gratitude for the encouragement and inspiration I have received over the years from those who have so thoughtfully and generously shared their experiences through testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals. I'm happy to add my written testimony to those of countless thousands who have recorded how they have been helped and healed by the Word of God, as understood in Christian Science.
For many years when people asked me why I was a Christian Scientist, I felt embarrassed that I couldn't tell of some earthshaking healing I had had. Then one day it dawned on me that I didn't need to feel embarrassed at all.
"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" ( Matt. 22:39 ).
About four years ago I was a companion to an elderly woman. One morning, during a period of remodeling her home, I tripped on the corner of a rug that had been stored in my room and landed full force on my face.
When I was nine years old my father learned of Christian Science, and he soon became very interested in it. For about three years after that my parents went to church services and my brothers and I attended the Sunday School of a Christian Science Society in a nearby town.

In 1976, when I became acquainted with Christian Science, I was working in a hospital, in which I had direct and practically constant dealings with patients. As I began studying the weekly Bible Lessons found in the Christian Science Quarterly , I started to feel uncomfortable in my job.
About five or six years ago a healing in my life brought me much gratitude. At a construction site, where we were building town houses, I drove my pickup onto a ramp and proceeded to load the truck with various items.
