
Testimonies of Healing
An experience I had many years ago proved to me in very tangible ways the blessings that come from obeying the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. " A friend, my six-year-old son, and I were driving down a wide artery in a large city, on which I had the right of way.
Many proofs of God's direction and healing care have been evident in my life. Every day I see His beneficial plan for His creation unfolding for me and others.
In rearing a son and a daughter, I've had ample proof that Christian Science heals quickly and effectively. It heals more than physical ills; it heals character faults as well, freeing us to live happier, more fruitful lives.
When I was about two years old, my mother enrolled me in the Christian Science Sunday School. However, because my father was opposed, I soon stopped going, and Christian Science was not discussed in our family until I was in high school.
People are generally surprised, when they first visit a Wednesday testimony meeting in The Mother Church, to hear the Reader ask the congregation to make their testimonies brief so that more may speak. Then when the meeting is opened for congregational sharing, the expressions of gratitude are so numerous that people rise and stand to wait their turn to testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science.
I was thinking recently of how grateful I am for Christian Science—for all it has meant to me and my family—and I decided it was time to send in a testimony to the periodicals. My mother came into Christian Science before I was born, so God has been my only physician, the one guide and preserver of my life.
I am deeply grateful for all the healings and for the countless blessings the study of Christian Science has brought to my life. This vital teaching has been our family's way of life for four generations.
