Testimonies of Healing

My first testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel over thirty years ago. Since that time I have continued to have many proofs, through the study and application of Christian Science, of the healing, protecting, and guiding power of God.

I have been a practicing Christian Scientist for many years and have been blessed by the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science. A written testimony of some of the healings I have had is long overdue.

There have been many occasions in my life, especially when a problem continued over a period of time, to prove the truth of this statement in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy ( p. 66 ): "Trials are proofs of God's care.

It is a privilege and a joy to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. Several years ago a severe pain developed in my lower back, which made all movement both painful and difficult.

Although I had become interested in Christian Science during my high school years, I did not begin to study it until after I had been married to a practicing Scientist for three years. He visited my Protestant church, and I occasionally attended services with him at the Church of Christ, Scientist, where he had attended Sunday School up to the age of twenty.

Although I have been a student of Christian Science for fifty years, I have never submitted a written testimony; so I am now correcting that omission. I am grateful that I had a mother who was very spiritually-minded and that I was brought up in a Christian atmosphere.

I am grateful to have been raised in Christian Science. I have experienced healings of injuries, relationship troubles, and difficulties concerned with home and location.

Recently I visited a lovely woman who reminded me of the wonderful healing that brought my grandparents into Christian Science. As a young girl in the early 1900s, this woman had been a school friend of my mother and my aunt.

One night after driving into our garage, my husband and I were confronted by two men armed with pistols. They forced us to lie down on the garage floor where we were bound and gagged.

In 1936 my paternal grandfather, who was living in Holland, was healed through Christian Science of tuberculosis. Soon after this healing, he, his wife, and their children began attending services at a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
