Testimonies of Healing
Many years ago some couples out walking one evening saw crowds of people entering a church. Out of curiosity they went in.
Through study of the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy, particularly Science and Health , I am learning of God and how to rely on Him.
When you have lived a lifetime studying Christian Science and have seen your parents, sisters, brothers, husband, children, and grandchildren healed at different times through the application of its teachings, where do you begin to say thanks? In raising my family of three children, I have experienced harmonious childbirths and have seen healings of fevers, colds, mumps, measles, a dogbite, crushed fingers, and more. I was healed of a severe case of recurring attacks of asthma.
How much I have for which to be grateful! I was five years old and one of six children when a neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, introduced my mother to this teaching by lending her some Christian Science literature. Soon my mother borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs.
It would be impossible for me to express sufficiently the gratitude I feel for Christian Science or to tell of the protection, guidance, and many healings that we as a family have enjoyed for more than fifty-five years. Before I knew of Christian Science, at one point early in our marriage, every now and then I would say to my husband, "Why don't we go and hear your dad read?" (His father was serving a term as First Reader at a branch church.
Every day for at least three years I have wanted to submit a testimony of healing, but I would always say, "Maybe tomorrow. " Tomorrow has arrived! Christian Science was brought to our family when my sister had been hospitalized for appendicitis and peritonitis.
I humbly listened for the "still small voice" to direct my path in achieving my educational degrees and in obtaining employment. It was not easy.
Having been raised in a family whose members turned to Christian Science for solutions to all kinds of problems, I have witnessed many wonderful healings and experienced healing myself. I am most grateful for the spiritual foundation that Christian Science gave me, for it helped me recognize that true Christianity is indeed a Science each of us can prove in his or her own life.
"Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff,—a broken reed, which pierces the heart" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 66 ).
Christian Science not only heals but is the way of Life. Mrs.
