
Testimonies of Healing
It would be impossible for me to express sufficiently the gratitude I feel for Christian Science or to tell of the protection, guidance, and many healings that we as a family have enjoyed for more than fifty-five years. Before I knew of Christian Science, at one point early in our marriage, every now and then I would say to my husband, "Why don't we go and hear your dad read?" (His father was serving a term as First Reader at a branch church.
Every day for at least three years I have wanted to submit a testimony of healing, but I would always say, "Maybe tomorrow. " Tomorrow has arrived! Christian Science was brought to our family when my sister had been hospitalized for appendicitis and peritonitis.
I humbly listened for the "still small voice" to direct my path in achieving my educational degrees and in obtaining employment. It was not easy.
Having been raised in a family whose members turned to Christian Science for solutions to all kinds of problems, I have witnessed many wonderful healings and experienced healing myself. I am most grateful for the spiritual foundation that Christian Science gave me, for it helped me recognize that true Christianity is indeed a Science each of us can prove in his or her own life.
"Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff,—a broken reed, which pierces the heart" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 66 ).
Christian Science not only heals but is the way of Life. Mrs.
In Job we read ( 21:15 ), "What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?" Tremendous gratitude wells up in my heart to answer that question. Since I was three years old I've been blessed with a multitude of proofs that God answers every earnest prayer.
I am very grateful to have been raised in a Christian Science Sunday School and to have had the opportunity to attend the International Youth Meeting in Boston in 1974 when in my teens. It was at that meeting that I really decided to make Christian Science my way of life.
Christian Science was introduced to my family by a neighbor. My father did not pursue the study of this Science, but my mother and I did; eventually we joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
As chief engineer of a large oil refinery, I was on a four-man bargaining committee representing management in negotiating a new labor contract with the union that represented our employees. The union had a wide reputation as being very difficult to deal with, and it frequently made belligerent and unreasonable demands upon employers.
