Testimonies of Healing

The fact that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" ( Ps. 46:1 ) was proved in my experience through a Christian Science healing that occurred in 1985; and with my healing came a greater sense of God's presence and a consequent reform in my life.

Christian Science was introduced to my mother around the time she was trained as a medical nurse. She had been serving as a governess for a family who sent their children to the Christian Science Sunday School.

A few years ago I noticed a growth on my back. It caused no discomfort and could not be seen, and after some time I actually put the situation out of mind.

Over the years there have been countless proofs of God's loving care in our family. Of the many healings that I could share, two concern our younger son.

During the Vietnam conflict I commanded a battalion of naval construction men. When we arrived in Vietnam, I made a tour of the construction sites we were to assume responsibility for.

Psalm 150 exhorts us to praise God for His "mighty acts" and for His "excellent greatness" (see verse 2). In obedience to this I would like to express my gratitude and praise to God.

It is time that I express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and the many ways it has blessed me over the years. Spiritual blessings have included learning of God's ever-present goodness and all-power, and of man's perfect oneness with Him as His spiritual idea.

At one point an inflamed skin condition developed on one side of my face and head. When I first saw it, I immediately affirmed what I knew to be true of my spotless nature as God's perfect man and acknowledged God's supreme control over His creation.

At one time I was having heart problems. In addition, I was working full time plus caring for my home and family.

It has been over twenty-eight years since my testimony of healing appeared in an issue of the Christian Science Sentinel. At that time I had been married to a conscientious student of Science for about three years.
