Testimonies of Healing
In the decade since Christian Science was introduced to me I have experienced and witnessed many healings. Each one has been important in furthering my understanding of this Science of Christ.
What a priceless gift is bestowed on children by parents who use the truths of the Bible as explained in Christian Science in raising their families! Such was my own experience, and I have been blessed by many healings over the years. What I consider a very significant healing happened about three years ago.
Approximately sixteen years ago, before I became aware of Christian Science, I was diagnosed by a specialist as having multiple sclerosis. In addition, I was told that I would become blind and that I had from six months to two years to live.
When I was in eighth grade I was hit by a speeding car while riding my bicycle on a country road. I clearly remember saying, "I'm a Christian Scientist and don't want to go to a hospital.
My gratitude for Christian Science is boundless. I am most grateful for having been raised in a family where applying the teachings of this wonderful Science was our way of life and for the countless blessings received through my involvement in the Christian Science movement.
One day when I was an older pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, my teacher noticed me staring at a deep burn on my hand, caused by a spill of hot oil. Every time the wound started to heal, it would open again.
The fact that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" ( Ps. 46:1 ) was proved in my experience through a Christian Science healing that occurred in 1985; and with my healing came a greater sense of God's presence and a consequent reform in my life.
Christian Science was introduced to my mother around the time she was trained as a medical nurse. She had been serving as a governess for a family who sent their children to the Christian Science Sunday School.
A few years ago I noticed a growth on my back. It caused no discomfort and could not be seen, and after some time I actually put the situation out of mind.
Over the years there have been countless proofs of God's loving care in our family. Of the many healings that I could share, two concern our younger son.
