Testimonies of Healing

Sometimes deep spiritual lessons are learned when events seem most discouraging. When we were expecting our first child I wanted to have a home birth.

Before the turn of the century, Christian Science healed my great-grandfather of a longstanding breathing difficulty that medical treatment had failed to relieve. This healing brought Christian Science to our family a hundred years ago and as a result has blessed many lives with a deeper understanding of God and His precious care for His beloved children.

Recently I was reminded of an experience I had over thirty years ago, during my first year as a student of Christian Science. My husband had been invited to South America to take part in an international athletic contest.

When my husband passed on, my world was suddenly shattered, and the resulting emptiness and anguish seemed more than I could bear. I desperately needed to know how my religion, Christian Science, could help me.

Many years ago my health was such that I went from doctor to doctor (nine in all) trying to find relief. I was suffering from migraine, spells of extreme nausea, and severe exhaustion.

My parents and grandparents are Christian Scientists, and I was a regular pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School (I am grateful for the loving guidance of dedicated teachers). My deepest gratitude embraces my family for their steadfast reliance on divine Truth for protection and healing.

I have been a lifelong Christian Scientist and have had many blessings. There have also been difficult experiences, but as Science and Health by Mrs.

For students of Christian Science, one of the difficulties in writing a testimony may be deciding just which healings to share! I am grateful for my parents' dedication to Science and for the healings I witnessed in their lives. And I could tell of rapid healings of childhood diseases and of the resolution through prayer of health, relationship, and career problems encountered as a young adult.

As I think back over the many times that God, good, has healed me, I am tremendously grateful for Christian Science. It is a clear-cut, effective teaching that provides us with answers to our questions concerning the Supreme Being, our own existence and purpose, and all of creation.

I would like to relate healings in connection with the births of our children. We chose to have the births take place at home, which was a real blessing for all of us.
