Testimonies of Healing

In Job we read ( 21:15 ), "What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?" Tremendous gratitude wells up in my heart to answer that question. Since I was three years old I've been blessed with a multitude of proofs that God answers every earnest prayer.

I am very grateful to have been raised in a Christian Science Sunday School and to have had the opportunity to attend the International Youth Meeting in Boston in 1974 when in my teens. It was at that meeting that I really decided to make Christian Science my way of life.

Christian Science was introduced to my family by a neighbor. My father did not pursue the study of this Science, but my mother and I did; eventually we joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

As chief engineer of a large oil refinery, I was on a four-man bargaining committee representing management in negotiating a new labor contract with the union that represented our employees. The union had a wide reputation as being very difficult to deal with, and it frequently made belligerent and unreasonable demands upon employers.

This testimony can express only a small portion of the gratitude I feel for a lifetime of blessings! To attend a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age was a wonderful privilege, and it has been a great joy to see my children and grandchildren have the same experience. My happy acceptance of what I understood of Christian Science undergirded all my early years but was never severely tested until my husband suddenly passed away when our son was just past two and I was pregnant with our second son.

When I was a child my grandmother regularly took my sisters and me to a Christian Science Sunday School. I remember that I enjoyed it very much, especially hearing that I was the beloved child of God.

One weekend several years ago my wife and I visited friends in western Massachusetts. On Sunday morning our entourage hurriedly got ready to attend a branch church service in a nearby town.

Recently, in need of comfort, I started to list healings I'd had through prayer. When I got to thirty-five in a few minutes, I found myself wondering why I had never submitted a written testimony! At the age of two, I was healed of typhoid.

Christian Science was presented to my mother before I was born, after the passing of her four-and-a-half-year-old son. A woman gave my mother a copy of Science and Health by Mrs.

In 1955 a growth developed on my neck for which two doctors recommended immediate surgery. A dear friend, a Christian Scientist, knowing of my reluctance to have an operation, suggested I try Christian Science.
