Testimonies of Healing
It is with humility and joy that I give this testimony. In 1920 I was forced through ill health to leave my farm and eventually to sell it.
Many years ago my mother was in great distress mentally and physically. She had three children and had been told by doctors that she was dying with heart disease.
Every time I think of what I owe to Christian Science, gratitude wells up within me for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
All the joy and happiness that is expressed in my life today I owe to Christian Science, and I am very grateful. When I was nine months old, it became apparent that my eyes were crossed.
As a testimony to the truth demonstrated by Christ Jesus, and with very deep gratitude and respect for Mrs. Eddy's incomparable work in revealing the truth to us, I wish to recount some blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science.
With deep gratitude for and appreciation of Mrs. Eddy, who brought to mankind the practical understanding of the Christ, Truth, through the various channels of the Christian Science movement, I write this testimony of healing and regeneration.
I should like to express my gratitude for the healing power of Truth in Christian Science. When I was about thirteen years old, a school doctor told me that I had an enlarged place in my neck.
It was through the study of the current Quarterly Lesson-Sermon and the prayerful support of a practitioner that I was able to rise above the effects of a severe fall. The subject of the lesson was "Adam and Fallen Man," and the recurrence of this lesson has prompted me to express deep gratitude for Christian Science.
For over thirty years Christian Science has been the governing factor in my life, and gratitude for it has always had a paramount place in my thoughts. Christian Science was presented to my mother at the time that I was a pupil in high school, and after my first introduction to its wonderful truths I regularly attended the Sunday School.
"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" ( John 3:3 ). I can testify to the truth of that statement by Christ Jesus.
